Daniels-Eisenstaedt Photo Tour: Gastonia
Heading back toward Raleigh as the end of their trip together neared, Daniels and Eisenstaedt took time to photograph some of North Carolina's textile mills. Loray Mills in Gastonia had been the scene of a 1929 strike that resulted in the deaths of both the local police chief and organizer Ella May Wiggins. It had been bought and renamed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company by the time Eisenstaedt photographed it.
